Astonishing Clean Air at Curves for Women

I can't even imagine what excercise facilities must go through to keep the indoor air clean... Here is a testimony I think you will enjoy...

By: Sue Gallagher, business owner, Curves for Women

Just to let you know I am very pleased with the AirSource 3000 you placed in our new Curves for Women exercise room. It really passed the test!

Even with all the windows and the door open all day long, and two fans going full blast, ... after a full, very busy twelve hour day of our members “exercising up a storm”, the air smelled particularly unpleasant. It was sweaty and rank. “This smelly air is definitely a good test for that little machine”, I thought, so we didn’t spray the room with deodorizers that night. Instead, I somewhat skeptically decided to just wait and see what the AirSource machine would do.

The next morning — what a pleasant surprise!!! When we opened the door at 6 a.m., the air in that dosed room smelled as fresh and clean as if the sea breezes had been at work airing the place out all night!

I really like that the AirSource 3000 looks like a piece of art, it doesn’t take up a lot of room (It sits compactly on top of the disk player), and that it does its job so efficiently and quietly. We can’t even hear it when the music is off! And no filter changing - Another plus!

Also, now that we have bought the AirSource, I’m not going to buy any more room deodorizers because we won’t be needing them. That’s a savings, and AirSource really cleans the air; it doesn’t just mask or cover up odors. Our air is FRESH and CLEAN, and that is very important for the health of all our members!

Thank you for sharing the amazing Air Purifier technology with me.

Did you know that just because a cleaning product is on the market doesn't mean it is safe?

This is something I instinctively felt every time I used regular household cleaners, even before learning about Barefoot Products.

The chemicals used in regular cleaners on the market are dangerous and give off toxic fumes which pervade your home. In addition, these cleaners also poison the natural environment and its inhabitants, creating chemical pollution.

Would you believe that there are household cleaners that not only have no toxic fumes and are environmentally friendly, but also actually work and could save you money? Well, Shaklee makes them!

---- makes a basic multipurpose household cleaner, germicide, dishwashing detergent, laundry detergent, industrial-strength cleaner, scouring paste, and drain unclogger.

Its basic multipurpose cleaner, ---, is frankly amazing. It is super concentrated, so to make a multipurpose solution you only need 1/2 teaspoon in 16 ounces of water, and to make a Windex substitute, you only need 2 drops in 16 ounces of water!

The concentrated nature of Barefoot cleaners is the reason why you can save money with them. You use so much less cleaner to do the job than you would with regular cleaners. You can use various concentrations of ---- to clean the house floor to ceiling, get crayon off walls, get lipstick off napkins, and wash residue off fruits and vegetables.

You can also wash your hands with -----, wash your pets with it, use it as a laundry pre-spotter, and much much more. You can even dump your extra solution on plants!

You can't do those things with Lysol, Soft Scrub, or Windex!

Have you ever used oven cleaner?

That is the nastiest cleaner I've ever encountered, and I felt like every time I used it, I was losing years off my life due to the poisons I was inhaling.

After I got -----, I used the multipurpose solution to take baked-on residue off the inside of my oven. It didn't smell like anything, it didn't make me cough or feel sick, and it worked!

Have you ever wondered if using regular cleaners in your oven, microwave, fridge, and freezer was really OK, given that the chemicals were being used in places where they would spread to your food--food you would later eat?

Well, now you can clean every place where food is found, without fear. Have you ever wondered if using regular cleaners in the bathroom was really OK, given that you were spraying chemicals in places like the shower and bathtub, where you would later expose your skin?

Now you can clean your bathroom without fear also. Additionally, Barefoot dishwasher and laundry detergent allows you to clean your dishes and clothes with a clean conscience, knowing that you are not hurting the environment.

Switching over to Barefoot cleaners is something that everyone would benefit from. Regular cleaners can exacerbate problems like allergies, asthma, and more.

Don't poison yourself in your own home! Visit http://www.shaklee.net/barefoot for more information and buy online.

Barefoot Cleaning Product Facts

One quart of Barefoot's All Purpose Cleaner, which is my primary cleaner, when diluted as directed, will produce 190 gallons of powerful cleaner.

One quart of --- ( germicide), use to disinfect around toilets, bathtubs and other places germs may flourish, will produce up to 64 gallons of cleaner.

One quart of --- ( industrial strength cleaner), use to strip wax from floors, clean really greasy clothes etc...will make up to 32 gallons of cleaner.

All Purpose Cleaner, in the prescribed dilutions, cleans hard surfaces, furniture, enameled woodwork, walls, floors, ceilings, glass, mirrors, appliances, cars, you name it will clean it.

Today's artificial cleaning products can take up to 200 years to degrade, but Barefoot's ---degrades within a few hours to a few days.

Barefoot's all purpose cleaner makes water 100 times wetter, so it makes cleaning easier with less work. The Germicide kills more bacteria, viruses and fungus than any other germicide on the market. The Industral strength cleaner penetrates, emulsifies, and removes grease, oil and wax. Liquid scrubber tough, but gentle cleanser cleans, scours, and polishes without scratching.

"All Purpose Cleaner makes water 100 times wetter" meaning... it reduces the surface tension of water so that it doesn't bead up on the things you want to clean. Instead it spreads evenly over the surface, greatly increasing its ability to remove dirt and grease.

All PurposeCleaner, is also a soil enrichment agent. Many farmers purchase it in 30 gallon drums. So if you have any dry spots on you lawn or a plant or bush that may not be doing to well because of draught conditions, that where you dump your cleaning solution after you done cleaning. Within days the area starts to rejuvenate.

Safe Head Lice Removal information

To rid the head of lice includes three problems:
1. Removing lice from the head
2. Removing nits or eggs
3. Removing of lice and nits from the environment of the person infested

The following routine must be done all at once, and continued daily for seven days! The nits are viable for two weeks unless smothered. Nits can exist alive in the atmosphere for two weeks and still continue to hatch and lice can also exist for a time without food so a vigilant check at 14 days from start of this routine is a must.

Lice are light, silvery colored under lights but are often brown or black creatures that live on the scalp by sucking blood from the victim. This causes small pinpoint red marks that start to itch after one week and may produce crusted red bumps. In severe cases, swollen glands in the neck and/or under the arms may develop.

Nits (louse eggs) are tiny grayish to white oval shaped louse-egg-sacs that are firmly cemented on the hair shaft close to the scalp and extremely difficult to remove. They may look like dandruff, but do not flake loose. When deposited by the female louse, nits form an organic bond with the hair, commonly called nit-glue, which makes manual nit picking frustrating, tiresome and often painful. Nits can be found close to the scalp, usually located at the nape of the neck, behind the ears and at the crown.

The life cycle or incubation period of the louse eggs, called nits is seven days. If they remain on the hair they will hatch into crawling lice within seven to ten days causing reinfestation. Because of this, when lice are first discovered, a three pronged daily treatment for the first seven days is a must (as it is not known when each existing nit was deposited - seven days ago or yesterday!!) in order to stop further nits from being deposited.

Therefore, at the same time the head is treated, for seven days, you must rid your house of the lice... because they ARE in your house if any member of the household has any head lice at this time!

Launder all used clothes (they can live in seams of clothing so be thorough), towels, pillows, washable stuffed toys, coats, hats, scarves, etc. in hot water and dry in a hot dryer. All linens & blankets and all clothes in contact with the infested person must be laundered daily for seven days. You may have to go use a launderette to get all bedding, etc. done at once.

Vacuum thoroughly daily for seven days, all mattresses (all sides), the carpets (every inch), all upholstered furniture (even bottom), etc. and change the vacuum bag daily.

Scrub every hard-surface floor with a solution of Barefoot's household cleanser and germicide. Spray a solution of the household and germicide on mattresses, carpet, chair backs and cushions, car upholstery, school lockers, home closets, etc. Whatever cannot be laundered (toys, pillows, comforters, wool blankets & coats, etc.) must be put into a large garbage or yard bag, add paradichlorobenzene crystals and store, tightly closed for at least two weeks or leave in hot sun for 30 days or store in garage for 60 days.

Everyone in the house and pets must be checked (even thought they do not live on pets, only humans). Any friends with whom the infested person has been in contact should be notified immediately so the infestation can be stopped. Everyone must work at it at the same time to alleviate the problem!

Avoid touching other people for seven days as lice are only spread to others by contact or by being close. Although head lice can only crawl, those ugly rascals "appear to jump" from one coat to another in a heap of coats or on coat-hooks, one hat to another, one church pew to your head, one movie theatre seat to your head, one desk to another, one car seat to another.Even out-of-control infestation has been eliminated within a week with this method if followed carefully with determination and diligence.

To treat the head put barefoot's all purpose cleanser full strength on hair, using enough to completely cover the entire scalp, rubbing it into the base of the hair shaft. This suffocates the lice and their nits (eggs) so they can be shampooed, combed, or picked out. Leave the all purpose cleanser on for thirty or sixty minutes. A shower cap may help keep it moist. This non-toxic, PH balanced product is safe and healthy to the skin, hair, your body system and the environment. Exception: If treating a very young child or person with very sensitive skin dilute with some water and treat for only 15 minutes so you are certain it does not irritate their tender scalp.

Shampoo the hair by adding water after the one-hour soak time. Rinse hair with Apple Cider Vinegar to help loosen the nits. Apply a hair conditioner ( Barefoot's Conditioner is healthy for you) and using an ordinary comb, remove all tangles and snarls. Next, to easier loosen nits, leave the conditioner still wet on the hair, separate and work with a one-inch section of hair at a time to comb out lice & nits.

Combing out lice and nits: Now it is very important at this time to use a fine tooth all metal lice comb. To comb out head lice and their nits of eggs from the hair, to prevent reinfestation, an all-metal Lice Comb must be used. Plastic combs are not effective to do the work. The teeth spread bend and break and plastic combs cannot be heated in 130° water or boiling water (212°) for 15 minutes to sterilize the comb.Medi-Comb by Health Enterprises will glide through the hair without snagging or pulling and is available at your drugstore.

How to: With the metal Medi-Comb's name facing away from the scalp, hold the comb in your right hand at a 45° angle. Place comb teeth as close to the scalp as possible, then lightly comb, passing through the same strands several times. Repeat this procedure until the entire head has been completely checked. Examine hair shafts very slowly and carefully using a 5X magnifying glass to locate nits (eggs) and to insure a complete job of removing head lice and their nits from the hair to prevent reinfestation.

Even after up to several hours of tedious combing, some nits may stubbornly cling to the hair. When spotted, clasp the hair shaft between the thumb and fingernail to the forefinger and gently pull through the length of the hair shaft and off the end to remove. Total nit removal is the only way to ensure complete lice elimination and guard against reinfestation.

Rinse the conditioner out of the hair thoroughly and carefully. Use a hot hair dryer to dry the hair and/or use a hot curling iron to curl the hair. When treatment is complete, clean and sterilize all combs by boiling in water for 15 minutes. Repeat daily for seven days.
Head lice dislike disturbance or light, so between treatments, brush the hair under a light with a good hairbrush to damage any young insects before they become established to prevent them from laying eggs. Boil the brush after each use for 15 minutes daily for seven days.

Continue several times during the second week to inspect the head after shampooing while the hair is still wet with applied hair conditioner, then weekly for a time, to be certain you have avoided reinfestation.

Avoid scratching the scalp to prevent infection.

Above Protocol recommended by a School Nurse from Syracuse, IN.

Note: Pediculicides often recommended are 200 Pyrinate, Cuprex, Rid, Nix, Clear, etc. We found none that worked. All or 30% of nits remained. Some oils were recommended but were so messy we gave up on them. Prescribed by M.D.'s is Quell or a similar product that contains Lindane. Lindane a chemical pesticide is sometimes prescribed to be applied and is allowed to remain on the head for up to three days. This is very hard on a person as the skin is so absorbent and the chemical so very toxic.

There are three types of lice: head lice, body lice and pubic or crab lice. Body lice may also be found on the eyelashes and can be treated with a salve. Pubic lice are the largest of all the mites that infest humans measuring one millimeter in diameter. All spread by direct contact and can be rid of by coating with all purpose cleanser concentrate for 30 minutes.

Never, never, never use a highly flammable product such as gasoline of kerosene on the head as it "burns" the scalp, the fumes are toxic when inhaled, it is extremely dangerous, only takes a spark to set it on fire and it doesn't work as the nits remain. It might kill the kid rather than the lice. How stupid! Such an incidence was reported in the news when a girl was engulfed in flames. So Stupid! Yuk!! Never try it!!

How to rid your child from head lice

Written by: Vivian
Years ago, my granddaughter was in grade school and head lice broke out. She had long, long hair almost to her waist.

We went to the doc and went thru a lice treatment but she still had lice. There was talk of cutting her beautiful hair.

We took all puropse cleanser being very careful not to get the concentrate in her eyes and ran some straight thru her hair and then let it sit a bit.

We had her lying on the kitchen counter and laying her head back in the sink being ever so careful not to get in the eyes. Then after about 2-3 minutes, we rinsed it very very well. No head lice.

We repeated the treatment a time or two to be sure. It got rid of them.

EPA Will Use Poor Kids as Guinea Pigs to Test Toxic Chemicals

Editors Note: This just makes me sick to think that is actually happening!!!! The worst part is there are most likely family's so desprate for some extra income that they will participate, risking their own childrens health and the debts that will come along with a sick child.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced plans to launch an outrageous new study in which participating low income families will have their children exposed to toxic pesticides over the course of two years.

For taking part in these studies, each family will receive $970, a free video camera, a T-shirt, and a framed certificate of appreciation. The study,c entitled CHEERS (Children's Environmental Exposure Research Study), will look at how chemicals can be ingested, inhaled or absorbed by children ranging from babies to 3 years old.

Please take a moment to join tens of thousands of citizens in petitioning the EPA to terminate this study prior to its proposed launch in early 2005. More information and petition here: http://www.organicconsumers.org/epa-alert.htm

Fast Food & Tummy Troubles

A recent study at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston has found a link between eating a lot of fast food and recurrent abdominal pain (RAP).

This poorly understood condition involves pain that comes and goesfor over three months without any obvious medical cause and no signs of serious problems.
No specific cause has been found for this, but increasing your childs fiber can help.

The study questioned 700 children between the ages of 5 and 15. 24% of whom suffered from RAP. The researchers found that the risk was two times greater in children who ate no more than two servings of fruit a week.

The risk was also increased 50% for the children who ate fast food daily versus those who ate there no more than once a week.

Children who ate at home were more likely to eat fruits and veggies which are good sources of fiber - helping to prevent RAP.

Fruits, Vegetables May Protect against Recurrent Abdominal Pain in Children
By Charlene Laino
NEW ORLEANS, LA -- May 18, 2004 -- Healthy eating habits appear to protect against recurrent abdominal pain in school children, a population-based study shows.Hoda Malaty, MD, associate professor of medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, United States, presented the findings here on May 18th at Digestive Disease Week 2004 (DDW).

"Although recurrent abdominal pain in children is common, the association between it and eating habits hadn't been looked at before," she said.Seeking to fill in the knowledge gap, her team prospectively studied 700 children, aged 5 years to 15 years.

With their parents, the children filled out a standardized questionnaire concerning socioeconomic parameters and abdominal pain intensity, frequency, and duration. Children were classified as having recurrent abdominal pain if they met Apley´s criteria: at least 3 attacks of pain; pain severe enough to affect activities; attacks occurring over a period of 3 months; and no known organic cause.

Overall, 24% of the children had recurrent abdominal pain, Dr. Malaty reported. "Age, sex and, other variables couldn't explain that high incidence, so we looked at diet as a possible cause."The study showed that consumption of fruits and vegetables "was the biggest risk factor," she said. Specifically, eating fresh fruits and vegetables was associated with an odds ratio of 2.2. This was significant at the P =.01 level, she said.

Children who ate daily in fast-food restaurants, on the other hand, had about 50% more episodes of abdominal pain than those who ate fast food only once per week, Dr. Malaty reported. "The more fast food they ate, the greater the chance they suffered recurrent abdominal pain," she added.

Lee Kaplan, MD, PhD, director of the Obesity Research Center and director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Weight Center in Boston, Massachusetts, United States, said, "People talk a lot about natural foods with fiber and how that might be more healthy. But data proving that has been scarce, even though it seems logical."This research actually demonstrates that link. It is seminal work that points to the importance of nutrition in human health," said Dr. Kaplan, who moderated a press conference to discuss the findings.

Male fish becoming female?

Researchers in Colorado have made a startling discovery. Fish, apparently male, are developing female sexual organs. Scientists believe it's the result of too much estrogen in the water and they're finding estrogen in rivers across the country.

Always Wash First!

This is a story I got via email that made me stop and think a little... as I'm sure you will too after reading it.

A stock clerk was sent to clean up a storeroom in Maui, Hawaii. When he got back, he was complaining that the storeroom wasreally filthy and that he had noticed dried mouse or rat droppings in some areas.

A couple of days later, he started to feel like he was coming downwith a stomach flu, complained of sore joints and headaches, andbegan to vomit. He went to bed and never really got up again.Within two days he was severely ill and weak. His blood sugar count was down to 66, and his face and eyeballs were yellow. He was rushed to the emergency at Pali-Momi, where he was diagnosed to be suffering from massive organ failure. He died shortly before midnight.

No one would have made the connection between his job and his death, had it not been for a doctor who specifically asked if he had been in a warehouse or exposed to dried rat or mouse droppings at any time They said there is a virus (much like the Hanta virus) that lives in dried rat and mouse droppings. Once dried, these droppings are like dust and can easily be breathed in or ingested if a person does not wear protective gear or fails to wash face and hands thoroughly.

An autopsy was performed on the clerk to verify the doctor's suspicions. This is why it is extremely important to ALWAYS carefully rinse off the tops of canned sodas or foods, and to wipe off pasta packaging, cereal boxes, and so on. Almost everything you buy in a supermarket was stored in a warehouse at one time or another, and stores themselves often have rodents. Most of us remember to wash vegetables and fruits but never think of boxes and cans.

The ugly truth is, even the most modern, upper class, super storehave rats and mice. And their warehouse most assuredly does!

Whenever you buy any canned soft drink, please make sure that you wash the top with running water and soap or, if that is not available, drink with a straw.

The investigation of soda cans by the Center for Disease Control inAtlanta discovered that the tops of soda cans can be encrusted with dried rat's urine, which is so toxic it can be lethal. Canned drinks and other foodstuffs are stored in warehouses and containers that are usually infested with rodents, and then they get transported to retail outlets without being properly cleaned.

Help for Dermatitis

Finding out what is irritating your skin and avoiding it are the keys to dealing with dermatitis. When your immune system overreacts to an irritant, you get dermatitis.

Dermatitis is simply your immune system flashing its message -- "I'm irritated" -- on your skin in the form of an itchy red rash. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition, affecting 2 to 5 percent of the population. It appears as reddened small bumps and scaly eruptions occurring on the sides of the nose, the cheeks, scalp and skin folds (in worse cases the armpits, groin and neck also). There is no single clear cause of seborrhea dermatitis, although a poor functioning immune system may be involved.

The vitamins B6 (pyridoxine) and Biotin appear to help seborrheic dermatitis and their lack may be a causative factor. Candida albicans may be involved in causing or worsening seborrheic dermatitis.

Seborrheic dermatitis is highly responsive to nutritional management. Skin smoothness can be enhanced, as well, through specific dietary manipulation and supplementation with essential oils, B-vitamins, Zinc, and antioxidants at established doses.

Regarding nutrition and detoxification, research reveals that many skin conditions are aggravated by faulty detoxification mechanisms, excess toxicity and compromised liver function. The liver is the main blood filtration plant to neutralize and eliminate toxins from the body.

Conversely, a number of skin conditions have been shown to respond favorably when the bodys detoxification centers are supported through dietary manipulation and the appropriate use of supplements. Thus, nutritional support is a vital aspect of skin health and appearance, and optimizing detoxification is a primary target in the treatment of a variety of common skin conditions. Although enhancing detoxification is not the only role of nutritional management for skin conditions, it is an often overlooked area of intervention.

Supplements suggested:
Daily Strips
Beta Carotene
Omega 3 Supplement
EveningPrimrose Oil
I would also consider Liver Detoxifier and Acidopholus.
Suggesting Natural Hair Care, and the use of cleansing lotion or the Soap-Free Cleansing Bar for washing the face.
